Next steps: Consultation and treatment for varicose and/or spider veins

Consultation:

Dr. Kaufman will review your history with you and conduct a thorough physical examination. He will photograph your legs. If indicated, a diagnostic ultrasound will be performed.

He will then discuss his findings and offer recommendations. A prescription for compression stockings is usually provided. The office staff can schedule your procedure at any time thereafter.

A few forms will need to be completed prior to meeting with Dr. Kaufman.

Payment options:

We work with most major insurance carriers.

Most major health plans, including Medicare, provide coverage for the Closure® procedure. Please contact the office staff at Total Vein Care for additional information.

On the morning of your procedure:

You can arrive at Total Vein Care shortly before your scheduled surgery.

The procedure, start to finish, will take no more than an hour, usually only 20-30 minutes. Bring your compression stocking with you, since it will be applied at the conclusion of surgery. You will wear the stocking for 2-3 days, and can shower with it on since it air dries quickly.

The painless procedure takes place in our sunlit surgical suite. A local anesthetic is all that's needed.

You can return to your normal activities immediately. An appointment will be made during the following week for a post-op ultrasound.

Follow-up visits occur at 3 days, 3 weeks, and 3 months.

Most patients report significant improvement in their original symptoms almost immediately following the procedure. Two year data presented at the 2008 meeting of the American College of Phlebology report a success rate of 97.2% for patients treated with the ClosureFast® system.
